Vy To
Managing Partner Ogawa Sushi & Kappo, Almanac
Vy (Vee) To is a co-partner of Ogawa Sushi & Kappo and Almanac. Originally from Vietnam, she came to the United States at 15 to attend boarding school in Ohio before completing both her undergraduate and graduate studies in Philadelphia.
Before finding her way into hospitality, Vy spent 10 years in financial services as a Certified Financial Planner. The opportunity to open a restaurant came unexpectedly, and she often jokes that she said yes because she had no idea how much work it would actually be. She doesn’t regret that decision one bit.
Since then, Vy has approached hospitality with curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn. Some of her greatest lessons have come from her team, her guests, and other people in Philadelphia’s hospitality community. She cares deeply about creating thoughtful, welcoming experiences and building workplaces where people feel supported, heard, and proud of what they do.
As she continues to grow Ogawa and Almanac while working toward opening her next concept in Rittenhouse, Vy hopes to keep learning from and building relationships with other women in hospitality, become a better leader for her team, and give back to the Philadelphia community that has given her so much.
